as an ePub at https://unconcise.com/bookshelf (use access code ‘FARMCafe’)

I can vaguely recall the countless hours spent bringing my vision for an animated, interactive eBook to fruition. I first found a story and some characters (that perhaps only a mathematician could love), I then developed and coded the imagery and animations, which I then subsequently merged and layered in with researched mathematics into an Adobe Indesign document that could finally be exported to a fixed layout ePub.
This work flow proved to be a challenge, but finally, after so many hours, I had a fully functioning ePub…
…except…wait for it….
…all that remained was for this functioning ePub to pass the Apple Books ePubchecker and graphics sizing checks. I will spare you any further details (but I call out a mention to these undisclosed details for later reference), but needless to say that after many hours fixing the subtle issues that Apple Books identified, A Curvature Story finally made it to the Apple Books store is the version that can be previewed at https://unconcise.com/about/.
The problem with graphically intensive eBooks that I prefer to create is they are essentially code and sensitive to change in the digital book publishing environment. Apple Books recently took down my book and sent me a message saying that there was a problem with the metadata (author first name first not last name first), which meant I had to go back and try to fix the issue by “re-building” the ePub. The problem being that (recall those further details I left out above that I had to fix to make a functional ePub pass muster with Apple) I don’t have the patience to attend to all these details anymore. Fixing them would be a major pain. I have since learned how to be smarter about creating my graphically intensive, layered, and interactive ePubs so that fixing issues is 1/2 times a PAIN rather than 10 times a PAIN .
So rather than write a Second Edition of ‘A Curvature Story’ for publication back into the Apple Books environment, I am making the First-Fully Functional-ePub-Edition available for Free (with some caveats) to folks as a directly downloadable ePub file that can best be read using the Apple Books App or (Android) Lithium ePub Reader App. You are welcome to download the book at https://unconcise.com/bookshelf (use access code ‘FARMCafe’)
